Jobs Expo Galway is to return to the city in September, showcasing up to 40 leading employers from the region with job opportunities for skilled professionals in the West of Ireland and further afield. The event will take place on Saturday 16th September at the Galway Bay Hotel.

Jobs Expo Galway will feature some of the West’s most highly regarded companies, including both Irish and multinational employers and will also offer a full day of seminars, talks and workshops for job-seekers as well as free career advice from qualified career counsellors.

Jobs Expo Ireland runs the jobs and careers events twice-yearly in Dublin, Cork and Galway.

“We had an overwhelming response to our first Galway event. Thousands of people attended and met some of the foremost Irish and multinational companies based in the West,” says organiser Bronagh Cotter of Careers Unlimited.

Dedicated career zones

Jobs Expo Galway will feature a number of specialised areas so that attendees can meet the kinds of companies that most interest them, based on demand from its inaugural event last February, including:

The event will also feature employers with more general jobs and opportunities.

“The West is a STEM, medical technology and ICT hub and, as a result, our dedicated areas and exhibitors reflect this, with companies like Merit Medical and LotusWorks taking part. We will also offer a range of other career opportunities. Other big names exhibiting include PhoneWatch and Peter Mark. There will also be education and upskilling information in our Campus area, which includes NUI Galway and SOLAS.  There will be something for everyone," says Bronagh.

Free career advice and seminars

Jobs Expo Galway will also include free career advice as well as a series of industry seminars. The Career Clinic offers the chance for attendees to meet a team of professional careers coaches free of charge.  The team can help candidates with crucial issues such as interview skills and CV presentation or give advice for anyone looking to change career direction.

In addition, Jobs Expo Galway’s Agenda Stage will offer free, topical talks by industry insiders. The Agenda Stage will host talks on especially relevant job-seeking skills, such as using social media to land your dream job, interview techniques and CV writing workshops. In addition, speakers will discuss topics such as entrepreneurship, working in the USA, New Zealand and Dubai, returning to work after a career break and how professional women can break the 'glass ceiling' and move into senior roles.
