Recruit.ie Managing Director Bronagh Cotter

Ahead of the upcoming Virtual Recruitment jobs fair on 13th May, we profile Recruit.ie (formerly BCS Recruitment) and its success as a recruitment consultancy and event organiser.

For over 10 years BCS Recruitment has been Ireland’s foremost specialist recruitment consultancy and event organiser and has led the way in putting skilled professionals directly in contact with leading employers from Ireland and abroad.

Under the guidance of Managing Director Bronagh Cotter, who has more than 20 years of experience in the recruitment industry, BCS Recruitment has gone from strength to strength. In 2013 BCS Recruitment took over Jobs Expo and built it into Ireland’s #1 platform for recruitment and business networking opportunities.

Jobs Expo has welcomed more than 80,000 jobseekers to its various exhibitions, where they are able to meet Irish and international recruiters and attend Jobs Expo’s Career Clinic and a wide range of exciting seminars presented by industry professionals.

In 2019 Jobs Expo won the Irish Enterprise Award for Best Irish Jobs & Recruitment Fair in 2019. Also that year Bronagh took over the management of Biz Expo 2020, Ireland’s premiere B2B exhibition. Under Bronagh’s leadership Biz Expo 2020 became Ireland’s biggest opportunity for SMEs and microbusinesses to build brand awareness, develop client relationships and network with other organisations across a wealth of industries.

Both Biz Expo and Jobs Expo continue to find ways to innovate and adapt in order to maintain their success. In response to Covid-19 Bronagh developed a platform called Virtual Recruitment in order to continue to deliver the highest quality of recruitment fairs the industry has come to expect.

For Bronagh, now more than ever, it is essential to connect job-seekers with local and international organisations. “I am passionate about bringing the top companies and the best candidates together during Covid and empowering individuals to explore an array of career opportunities and find jobs all over the country and abroad during these challenging times.”

Proving itself to be an immediate success, Virtual Recruitment has already hosted two fairs, putting skilled professionals directly in front of leading employers from a variety of industries, including Amazon, Google Digital Garage, Ericsson, Nikon, Revenue, Irish Defence Forces, BCS Recruitment, Cpl, Talent Hub, Manpower, Coopero, ByrneLooby, Sedgwick, PE Global, HML Beacon Hospital, Lighthouse Studios, 24hr Care Services, Suir Engineering, Oxford Global, Mercury Engineering.

Alongside the range of heavy-hitters in the employment world, there was an impressive range of speakers and career coaches offering up their expertise and providing sound career advice and great support. Last November’s event welcomed Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, who gave a briefing to all attendees and exhibitors.

Always looking for ways to progress, Bronagh has recently overseen BCS Recruitment’s rebranding as Recruit.ie and continues to deliver top-tier HR services and deliver successful online jobs fair. “I believe that connection is key. It’s essential that we continue to provide the opportunities to connect jobseekers with prospective employers.“

Recruit.ie are currently getting ready for the next Virtual Recruitment event, which takes place on 13th May 2021 and will once again provide the perfect opportunity for jobseekers, companies and recruitment firms to make that connection.

The US company has announced that it is opening its new software development centre in Northern Ireland. The centre will create approximately 70 new job positions in the region, 12 of which have already been filled with staff members working remotely.

Diane Dodds, Northern Ireland Economy Minister said the region’s skilled workforce attracted EverQuote and that the new roles will inject over £3.7 million into the local economy through salaries.

Invest NI is supporting the investment by funding £420,000. The agency has said on Twitter that it is the firm’s intention to ‘open the centre in Belfast but staff will initially work from home”.

EverQuote provides an online insurance marketplace to consumers, where they can connect with providers. It has teams in Washington state and Massachusetts and currently employs around 425 people in the US.

Tomas Revesz, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of EverQuote said: “We started considering locations for the new development centre in early 2020 and were recommended to consider Northern Ireland. The combination of talent, capability and the strong cluster of insurtech companies that we found when we visited Northern Ireland really impressed us.”

“As a company, we also place significant importance on providing meaningful skill and career development opportunities for our people. We were keen to ensure we had the ability to work with local universities to create a team that has a blend of both experience and new talent. The calibre of the two universities and the graduates they are producing made Northern Ireland very attractive to us as well.”

Kevin Holland, Invest NI CEO said that the focus will be put on product development roles with the view to helping EverQuote “drive engineering and software excellence to support its US operations” as well as expand into rental, direct-to-consumer and health markets. The agency has added that the new jobs will attract “high-level salaries”.
