Bausch & Lomb, an eye health company, are creating 125 new jobs on Ireland's South East coast.
The eye care company already employ nearly 1,000 full-time staff in Waterford Business Park.
Bausch & Lomb is set to invest  €75 million in the new project, adding not only 125 news jobs but also 150 construction jobs over the next two years.
Bausch & Lomb, an American company founded in Rochester, New York, is one of the world's largest suppliers of eye health products, including contact lenses, lens care products, medicines and implants for eye diseases.
CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, J Michael Peasron said:
“Bausch & Lomb’s Waterford site will continue to play a very important role in our strategy to rebuild Bausch & Lomb as one of the leading contact lens producers.”
“The Waterford facility is a first-class site for contact lens manufacturing and distribution, and with the planned new contact lens manufacturing lines, the added capacity will support both current and future demand.”
Speaking to the Irish Times, Bausch & Lomb’s Waterford general manager Damian Finn said:
“The prime reason we’re making this investment today is because of the cost structures we have now in place. We are grateful to the Government for their support on training and development which we will need in order to upskill our employees and upskill the new employees coming in. But the prime reason for this investment is down to the employees of this company.”
The great news comes on the back of Bausch & Lomb investing €41 million and adding 50 jobs to their Waterford office in November.
