Health Policy Research Assistant (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

We are currently sourcing a Health Policy Research Assistant / Administrator to join our commercial team in Citywest, Dublin.

In this role, you will provide support to the Policy and Government Affairs (GA) function in the research and development of health policy programs that deliver recommendations on policy for improved patient access to health innovation.  You will be involved in monitoring and collating health policy and economic research that support the advocacy objectives for Abbvie. In addition, you will be working with the GA teams on economic studies that provide the evidence for policy recommendations while researching policy that helps inform improvements in healthcare sustainability and equitable access to health for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Abbvie Health Policy Research agenda
  • Mapping the environment and gathering essential insights and early warning of changes that can impact the business. Profiling and monitoring key stakeholders ie what they are saying on hot topics for Abbvie.
  • Monitor and evaluate current information sources; research and strive to continuously improve Abbvie’s understanding and awareness of health policy that impacts patient access to health innovation.
  • Conducting desk research to uncover transferable best practice in Europe, eg Oncology correlation report
  • Evidence gathering for input Public Consultations
  • Proactively monitor relevant developments in Irish and international policy and practice eg monitor research output of the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policy
  • Coordinate the dissemination of health policy information with summary and key insights to the teams eg A weekly review and brief on the output of the Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Healthcare
  • Provide the support for Abbvie initiated research and policy initiatives. This could involve working with GA colleagues on coordinating outside vendors, setting up advisory groups/steering groups, development and approval of policy and position documents, logistic and management of launch events and press events.
  • Write reports and briefing documents, prepare materials, data and information to support Abbvie publications.
  • Map key policy stakeholders/ organizations both in Ireland and Europe and monitor the work that they produce that may inform Abbvie health policy priorities
  • Provide some administrative support to include budget and finance management for GA eg. event management , coordination of compliance approvals, meeting agendas and minutes.

Qualifications:

  • Third level qualification in health and/or public policy  and economic research and analysis
  • Newly graduated but 3-4 years post qualification work experience desirable
  • Familiarisation of the general healthcare environment
  • Research experience
  • Some experience of economics
  • An understanding of the legislative process and how policy is made in Ireland
  • Excellent organizations skills and IT skills
