Job Purpose
The R&D team are responsible for developing new photochromic ophthalmic lens products. As part of the team you will be responsible for carrying out product development for new products such as formulating new coating chemistries, as well as the associated processes. You will ensure the effective technology transfer from the R&D facilities to plant sites globally for process development, improvement and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
·         Support the development of new products for photochromic market

·         Develop, validate and implement new processes to support new products

·         Analyse existing products and processes and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate

·         Investigate and provide technical solutions to issues reported by end users of Transitions Optical products

·         Facilitate the transfer of product and process knowledge across relevant departments and Transitions Optical sites by collaborating effectively with global teams

·         Foster a hands on approach to performing and evaluating experiments and lab tests to support the management decision making process


Key Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and five years’ experience in Chemistry, Materials or Polymer Science
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Working knowledge of statistics
·         Drive for results

·         Interpersonal savvy

·         Managerial courage

·         Customer Focus


·         Experimental design knowledge & Project Management experience would be an advantage


Additional Info
Some international travel will be required – up to 10%
