Lorena Monzon joined Stryker Instruments in 2015 on a Science Foundation Ireland Industry Fellowship, awarded to experienced researchers who wish to establish their careers in industry. She then moved to Stryker Neurovascular in 2017. Since then, she has provided significant technical solutions for multiple projects and products in the Hemorrhagic and Ischemic space and has continually supported advancement in state of the art processing. Lorena has continually looked to progress her learning and collaboration within Stryker and externally. She has completed a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Project and obtained a Project Management Level 8 degree, she established a Women In Science Engineering chapter in Model Farm Road and networking with WISE Ireland and WISE USA championing a number of initiatives to advance the WISE Mission as well as developed links with external researchers and companies.

Prior joining Stryker, Lorena was a Research Fellow in Trinity College Dublin and a Post Doctorate Researcher in Johns Hopkins University USA, where she gained increasing hands on experience to improve existing processing technologies, materials synthesis and characterization techniques. She was granted 3 research contracts to collaborate with Industry partners and was a frequent peer reviewer for scientific journals.

Lorena holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Chemistry and a PhD in the area where Biophysics meets Electrochemistry. She is originally from Argentina and has been settled in Ireland since 2009.

On her free time, Lorena likes to be involved in hobby projects, look after her garden and hike with her husband. Since lockdown they have planted 14 trees, 13 climbers and countless of other plants to maximize their garden’s carbon capture capabilities.
