LCETB to showcase Beauty Therapy and Barbering Apprenticeships at Jobs Expo Limerick

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board
3 November 2026
Est. Reading: 2 minutes

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) will showcase the National Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship and the National Barbering Apprenticeship at Jobs Expo Limerick this Saturday, 7 November 2026, at the Greenhills Hotel. Anyone hoping to turn a passion for beauty or barbering into a qualified career can learn more from the LCETB team on the day.

Two apprenticeships, one stand

LCETB's stand will focus on two national apprenticeships for people who want to build a career in the hair, beauty and grooming industry:

  • National Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship – for those drawn to skincare, treatments and the wider beauty sector
  • National Barbering Apprenticeship – for those who want to master cutting, styling and grooming as a professional barber

Both programmes blend structured education and training with paid, hands-on experience in a real workplace. Apprentices earn while they learn, and work towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Why choose an apprenticeship

An apprenticeship offers a practical alternative to full-time college. Rather than learning only in a classroom, apprentices develop their skills alongside experienced professionals, with real clients, from the start.

The key benefits include:

  • Earning a wage while training
  • Practical, on-the-job experience in a working salon or barbershop
  • A nationally recognised qualification at the end of the programme
  • A clear pathway into a skilled, creative and in-demand career

About LCETB

LCETB is the state education and training authority for Limerick and Clare. It offers accessible, high-quality learning opportunities for people of all ages through its schools, College of Further Education and Training campuses and community-based programmes.

Who should visit the LCETB stand

The LCETB stand is a great stop for:

  • School leavers interested in a career in beauty or barbering
  • People who prefer learning by doing rather than full-time study
  • Career changers looking to retrain in a creative, people-focused trade
  • Those already working in salons or barbershops who want a formal qualification
  • Salon and barbershop owners interested in taking on apprentices
  • Parents and guardians exploring options with their teenagers

  2. What are the entry requirements?
  3. Do applicants need to find an employer first, or can LCETB help?
  4. What qualification is awarded at the end?
  5. When is the next intake, and how does the application process work?
