Could you be a broadcaster? The Radio School has joined Jobs Expo Galway and will be exhibiting at our education and training village, The Campus.

About the Radio School

Since 1995, the Radio School has run part-time courses and training in radio broadcasting. They also offer media studies from beginners to advanced level.

Students learn with a team of experienced professionals, all of whom are experts in the radio business. In addition, guest lecturers teaches specialised areas of the course. Students gain real world radio experience and skills and, as a result, are workplace ready. Because of their involvement in the industry, the Radio School can prepare students thoroughly for a career in this dynamic area.

Facilities

Radio station staff must know how to work with professional equipment as well as have the creativity to produce an engaging on-air experience. Therefore, the Radio School uses state-of the-art broadcast and recording equipment. Students gain a thorough understanding of the following:

  • Digital Editing Systems
  • Cool edit, waveforms and digital audio
  • Multi-track recording
  • Recording group sends, mixing techniques
  • Outboard equipment
  • Sound effects units, compression and limiting, patch bays
  • On-air “jock-assist” & commercial play-out systems
  • On-air and recording desks, music and programming systems

Practical experience

To prepare them for the workplace, students receive a real world view of broadcasting at a local radio station. Students view, first-hand, the operational aspects of the radio station, and learn in professional broadcasting surroundings.
