About Aran Biomedical

Aran Biomedical is a provider of product development and manufacturing services for cardiovascular medical implants. The company has expertise in implantable medical textiles, advanced braiding, PTFE covered stents and polymeric coated devices. Aran offers end-to-end product development services, from initial concept design, to volume commercial manufacturing of finished packaged devices. The company possesses industry know-how, technical resources and experience, along with regulatory consultative support. As a result, this ensures a smooth transition from an initial concept design, to a fully certified product.

Aran Biomedical has significant expertise in developing textile solutions for implantable devices. This includes braiding, knitting and weaving, for applications such as stent grafts, occlusion devices and heart valves. Products are customised as required for the indication, from the selection of resin, yarn or wire type, textile configuration etc, to establish the final design specification. Aran Biomedical also offers advanced braiding, from 3 – 96 carrier ends, with a range of materials, including metals, polymers and resorbable polymers.

The company’s coating and encapsulation competencies allow for the covering of stents and other implantable frames. Polymeric coatings, such as urethanes, silicone, co-polymers and resorbable materials, can be applied to a range of different implantable devices, from vessel occlusion and thrombus retrieval devices, to structural heart frames. The company also offers PTFE encapsulation of balloon and self-expanding stents, with wall thicknesses as low as 40 microns. Additionally, Aran Biomedical can offer electrospun coverings for implants, which can be developed using a vast range of polymers, both resorbable and non-resorbable.

Aran Biomedical’s combines core development competencies with a range of additional processing and characterisation capabilities, such as laser processing, 3D printing, moulding and mechanical characterisation. Partnering with medical device OEM’s globally, Aran Biomedical enables companies to supply next generation products to clinicians and their patients.
